An American went to Scotland and played golf with a newly acquainted Scottish golfer. After a bad tee shot, he played a "Mulligan" which was an extremely good one. He then asked the Scot, "What do you call a Mulligan in Scotland?"

Christa Luding from the former East Germany became the first woman to win a medal at both the Summer and Winter Games. She won a silver in the cycling sprint event at the Seoul Games in 1988, and had previously won gold for for speed skating at Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, in 1984, and a silver and a gold, again in speed skating, at Calgary, Canada in 1988. Christa took up cycling as a means of maintaining fitness during the summer months.
