Exhalation Breathing
What deep breathing does, exhalation tries to do even better: slow the quick and shallow breaths that are a stress trademark. Rapid breathing causes problems by ridding the blood of too much carbon dioxide.

1. Lie down with your arms near your sides.

2. Begin to inhale, raising your arms (elbows bent) toward the ceiling as you do. Take them all the way over your head to the floor (if comfortable) by the time your inhalation is complete.

3. Reverse the procedure, focusing on a very slow, smooth and even exhalation as you slowly return to your sides.

4. After several times, continue breathing this way without moving your arms. Try to make your exhalations longer, but inhalations can be whatever speed is comfortable.

You can use this technique to help you relax on a daily basis, or you can do it without lying down or using the arm movements to help you relax.
Don't wait for people to be friendly, show them how.
