Herbal Shampoo
This shampoo is so gentle that everyone in the family can use it
babies, children, and adults. It'll quickly become a favorite.
Gentle enough to use everyday. The conditioner is simple to make and
works wonderfully to condition and soften your hair.
Shampoo Ingredients:
2 cups distilled water
1 tablespoon calendula (pot marigold)
2 teaspoons (10 ml) rosemary
1 tablespoon (15 ml) nettle
2 teaspoons (10 ml) orange peel
2 teaspoons (10 ml) comfrey
2 tablespoons (30 ml) chamomile
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) essential oil of lavender
1/2 cup (118 ml) all-natural, gentle baby shampoo
Bring water to a boil and remove from heat. Add the
herbs, cover, and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Strain mixture into
a medium-sized bowl, add essential oil of lavender and mix well. Add
the shampoo and gently stir until thoroughly mixed. Pour into a
labeled bottle and keep refrigerated to preserve the freshness. You
may keep a small bottle in the shower with enough shampoo for about
one week, if you wish.
Don't worry when this shampoo doesn't lather up as much as
your regular shampoo does. It will still clean your hair
beautifully, but doesn't contain the strong foaming agents that
strong shampoos do.
To use, shake the shampoo very well before use and use as you
would your regular shampoo. Rinse very well and repeat if necessary.

If you have a daughter with long hair, and it's a real challenge to comb it or brush it free of tangles, there are tricks you can try:
=> keep the hair in a braid, so it has less chance to get tangled.
=> wash the hair at least every other day to keep it clean and force you to brush and untangle.
=> use a fairly stiff brush rather than a comb.
=> have the child watch an interesting TV show while brushing to pre-occupy her may avoid a fight.
=> use conditioner, and leave a small amount in so that the brush or comb will glide more easily.
