Cold Compress for Sprains
Use the first 24 hours
1/2 cup cold water (or comfrey herb tea)
1/2 cup distilled witch hazel lotion
2 drops Chamomile essential oil
2 drops Marjoram ssential oil
piece of flannel or wash cloth
plastic wrap
towel
bowl
In bowl, add the cold water or cold comfrey tea and witch hazel. Add the essential oils and stir well to disperse. Soak the flannel in the compress solution. Squeeze the cloth and apply to the affected joint. Cover with plastic wrap. If you have an ice pack, lay that over the plastic and cover with a towel. Elevate the sprained joint suring the treatment. When the compress becomes dry or warm replace it with a fresh one. Continue the compress for 20 minutes. Do this treatment three times per day.
