Here is a relaxing and soothing remedy for tired eyes:
Take 1-2 teaspoons of dried lavander leaves and 1-2 teaspoons of dried
chamomile, mix together and place in mesh sachet or tea bag. Bring 1-2
cups of water to boil, add the sachet and let seep for 20 minutes.
Cool the tea by placing in the fridge, preferably over night.
Once the tea has cooled, place some clean cotton makeup removers or
large cotton balls in the tea, squeeze the excess liquid and place the
"patches' over your eyes, especially on the under eye where bags and
dark circles form. Do this for 30 minutes, refreshing the pathces as
needed. The aroma of the tea will relax you. This works well for
tension headaches too.
For those "Raccon Eyes"
While there is no tried and true remedy for bags and dark circles
under the eyes, you can minimize their appearance by trying this
Ayurvedic exercise:
Close your eyes and with your ring finger gently rub from the inner
corner of the under eye to the outer corner for one minute (or 15
strokes) The skin of the undereye is very thin, equal to the thinness
of 4 sheets of paper so it is important to be very gentle when
practicing this exercise.
Dark circles can mean many things, one of them is poor circulation and
doing the eye exercise will help stimulate circulation and reduce the
appearance of bags and circles. For people who develop "shopping
bags" under the eyes, cold tea compresses placed on the undereyes more than once during the day work best. Sleep with an eye mask, the dark helps eyes to rejuvenate and rest, getting your 8-9 hours of full
sleep are a good eye stress reducer as well.
REMOVE YOUR MAKE-UP!
This is so important, no matter how tired, how late, how lazy we feel,
make-up should always b removed! Not only is it hygenic, but it helps
prevent eye infection. Make-up picks up germs and bacteria throughout
the day and settles on our face and eyes, if we don't remove that
make-up, bacteria will form in the eyes causing eye infections,
irritations, styes, and even pink eye.
Never use a toner as make-up remover and never use anything with
alcohol, even if a product says it is alcohol free. I have found that
nature has some great make-up removers. Jojoba oil, apricot oil, even
good ol' olive oil! Commercial products (and I sell Avon so it pains
me to say this ) can have harsh ingredients that may cause more harm
than help. If you must use a commercial product, make sure it has a
moisturizer base in it.
